Latgallian Ethno Rock group
LAIMAS MUZYKANTI
Group
“Laimas Muzykanti” is established in
October 1995. Together with a couple of people who shared the same
views it was
based by the actual band leader Artûrs Uðkâns (Arturs Ushkans).
Initially
the band was formed as folklore ensemble but with the time there were
experients with the sounds of ethnic
music instruments matching them with rock instruments. In the band were
involved the most distinguished rock musicians of Latgale. As a result
the band
created specific music style named „ethnorock”.
It
occured after the
1st independent album “Gonam gona” of “Laimas Muzykanti” is being
released in
October 2003 in publishing house “Izteiksme”. Now the band has prepared
new
programme and is going to release a new album.
Since
the
establishment the band had performances in Lithuania, Canada, Japan,
Australia,
USA, Hungary, Germany, Sweden, Belarus, Russia, Italy, Poland and in
other
countries.
“Laimas
Muzykanti”
plays and sings latgalian folk – songs which were collected during
folklore
expeditions in Latgale.
